Social Programme

We plan a variety of social events at the Logic Colloquium 2026. Each event's running is subject to sufficient interest. Social events will run on the afternoon of Wednesday 1st June. The conference dinner will take place on the evening of Thursday 2nd June.

Gower walking trip

We organise an excursion to the Gower Peninsula on Wednesday afternoon, with coach travel from the venue out into this amazing National Landscape. The Gower, which encompasses a breath-taking variety of scenery from beaches and cliffs to hills and woodland, was the first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK, back in 1956. It remains popular with holiday makers, walkers, nature enthusiasts, and many others. See more with the Gower Society. Our route will take us to Three Cliffs Bay, one of the most iconic spots on the Gower. (depicted in the photographs).

Coaches will be available to take participants from the conference venue to the start of the walk in the village of Southgate. There is a café at the drop-off/pick up point. Terrain will include grass, sand, rocks, pebbles, and paved paths. It is unlikely to be particularly muddy unless there has been severely heavy rain. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

There will be walks of different length possible:
Option 1: Walk at the sea front until you have some nice views of Three Cliffs Bay (first image, 20 or 30 mins and back).
Option 2: Descend to Three Cliffs Bay (image 2) and get a different view on the way back (image 3).
Experienced walkers can then do a detour via Pennard Castle (image 4) which offers an additional beautiful view.

Whisky tasting & Copperworks tour

As an alternative we have organised a tour of the Swansea Copperworks facility of Penderyn distillery, including a tasting. Penderyn was the first whisky distillery in Wales in over one hundred years when it first began producing whiskies in the late 1990s. Since then it has grown to become internationally recognised, winning over 100 Double Gold/Gold/Masters awards in various competitions. The distillery produces a variety of styles but is known for its signature gold colour and light, caramel taste.

Find out more at Penderyn's website.

Following the tour of Penderyn Distillery, we will have a guided walk of the Hafod Morfa Copperworks historical site, led by the Friends of the site. This will be a one to two-hour walk around the area explaining the history of this important site of industrial heritage. The walk will involve some stone-chipped surfaces so flat shoes are required.

Up to 20 people can be accommodated on the tours, allocated on a first come, first served basis. Express your interest in this form.

Signup is closed for the Whisky Tasting and we have booked places, but you can still add your name in case some people cannot make it on the day.
